"I hear and I forget. I see and I remember.I do and I understand" :- Confucius

Research shows that one of the biggest problems faced by language learners is a lack of opportunity to USE the language. Repeating phrases over and again ad-nauseum does not provide the feedback students need. RendezVu addresses this by giving learners the opportunity to try their language skills on others in a stimulating environment whenever they want.

How it works

We provide a 3D world, accessible over the Internet, where languages can be learnt through “immersion”. Content is based on standard curricula, such as GCSE, and there is a parallel learning website alongside the world. RendezVu maps standard curricula onto activities and events within the World and tracks the progress of individual learners against them. The GCSE language unit contexts are made up of a number of learning topics, such as Travel and Tourism, Destinations, Media and Communications, Health, Money etc. Our system arranges the topics into goals of varying degrees of difficulty across the recommended standards of the specification. Each goal is mapped each to a set of scenarios which reflect GCSE learning outcomes (investigate, understand, describe and discuss). In addition, mapping onto appropriate scenarios ensures the core vocabulary can be used as students achieve gradually more demanding goals. These Goals are set within the recommended parameters of the Specification and measured against the recommended grading scale for each unit.
